Mixture of MORROWIND and SKYRIM gives us SKYWIND

About a year ago the team working to recreate Morrowind in the Skyrim engine asked for voice actors and sound quality assistants to help them make Skywind sound as good as it looks. They’ve done well in that year, and, in a recent update, have shared videos of three of the completed recordings as they appear in game: an Argonian, a Dunmer, and an Altmer (which sounds like the beginning of a joke, I know). Here’s the Argonian, which is just as growly as you’d expect. Continue reading Mixture of MORROWIND and SKYRIM gives us SKYWIND

SKYLAKE Tweaks Improve Discrete Graphics Performance

Tests on the first Intel processors running on its new Skylake architecture in early August gave some odd results regarding the performance of games using discrete graphics cards. In some benchmarks, both Haswell and Broadwell, the previous generation CPUs, performed marginally better than or tied with Skylake. When we wrote about Skylake, we mentioned that it was support for new memory and storage bandwidth, not pure CPU speed, that made it a valuable upgrade. Now we’ve got a bit more insight into why Skylake struggled to surpass its predecessors. FORZA MOTORSPORT 6

The racing genre has reached that level of maturity where we’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve driven down the straightaways of Road America and the curves of the Bernese Alps. Also when you look at  this 2015 it is  rich, indeed, with racing games – Sebastian Loeb Rally Evo,Rocket League,Dirt,Moto GP 15,RIDE,Project Cars – to mention the few.It speaks to the quality of some racing games that they draw us back to these old roads time and time again.
